South Beach represents the northern most extension of the high-rise condominium development pattern now prevalent along much of South Florida's Atlantic coastline.  The condominium towers lining A1A throughout South Beach also account for the bulk of the Beach's resident population.

The following models represent the physical land use of the beach.   Each of the buildings are color coded as follows:

Commercial Buildings, Hotels, Motels, Extended Stay, Residences, Condominiums, Apartments, Institutions, Mixed Use, Restaurants

For survey purposes, Central Beach has been broken into five segments:

Section 9:      Dafodil Terrace to the Aquarius
Section 10:    The Aquarius to the Diplomat Hotel & Convention Center)
Section 11:    The Diplomat to Hallandale Beach Boulevard
